There's no need to keep them on the left side, it's ugly and impractical. Also the ordering just feels weird. You can change it back to the 9.10 default - http://web-guide.appspot.com/win_buttons . If I wanted an unintuitive OS I would just run Windows.

What is odd for me: that's OK for me to have new look, maybe even new button layouts for new installations. But what made me wondering that I have my _own_ theme, and everything remained after an upgrade _but_ the buttons are moved, and the terminals went into purple shaded ones. I think it's not a good idea to mess existing themes/settings up …

If I wasn't a 'power user', knowing how to edit gconf, and saw the button placement change like that I would probably either switch to Fedora or back to Windows, it is that ANNOYING.

I agree with you completely on the “its my computer” section. I DO like the new look, and I'm trying the new positioning just for grins as I'm testing lucid for nvidia drivers anyway…but this should be an easier “choice” for the user.
